Winter Specials
The 2007 whale watching season is upon us. Don't miss this spectactular annual
migration of the Humpback Whale in the pristine waters of Jervis Bay Marine
Park which, combined with the dramatic backdrop of the cliffs of Point Perpendicular
and the Bay's white sandy beaches, make Jervis Bay not only a natural playground
for whales but the very best place from which to see them.
Book for the weekend ($525) and enjoy Thursday or Sunday night (bookings permitting) as our gift (we like to beat the Sunday afternoon traffic - a 6.15 am departure should see you at the office in Sydney by around 9am; you're also very welcome to stay until our normal weekday check out at 10am).
A full week's sun and whalewatching in Winter is just $1195 - a saving of nearly
$800 on our high season tariff but just as wonderful an experience...
"Minke" has a special arrangement with Dolphin Watch - every guest
receives a 10% discount voucher for their stay. The Northern Migration runs
in June and July, the Southern Migration in late August to late November.
Check out our winter rates on the bookings page.>>
Minke is as warm as toast. Our bedroom windows face east and north - and there are glass doors between our sun drenched eat-in kitchen and huge deck (teak furniture and plantation umbrella). All face north - sun all day and lots of birds. Minke's snug at nights too with electric blankets, a lovely heater, rugs for each of you to snuggle into on the couch. We've chess, boules (for the lawn), jig saws, a small but perfectly formed library, TV, videos and more...
The return walk along the beach to HMAS Creswell takes about an hour - and you can arrange to see over this historic naval facility by telephoning the Executive Officer on 4429 7900.
There's good food to be had: a couple of hundred metres up the street the Hyams Beach Store and Café provide excellent coffee, good breakfasts and all your deli, grocery and emergency supplies. For dinner there's Seagrass at Huskisson. Bella in Kangaroo Valley village has the best ambience and Devonshire Teas in the South East.
Or you could simply stay at home, enjoy the very special ambience of Minke and eat your way through all those goodies - gourmet dips, pesto, ratatouille, country soup, organic vegetables and unrivalled bread - you've bought on the way down from Jelle and Joost at the Berry Woodfired Bakery (23 Prince Alfred Street, Berry, 4464 1617).
Bundanon, former home of Arthur Boyd, (West Cambewarra, 4423 0433) provides a romantic Sunday out. Take a left immediately north of the bridge at Nowra and prepare for an enchanted 40 minute drive deep into the Shoalhaven valley. Tours of the house run every half hour, the grounds are perfect for walks and picnics
Drive, walk, ride or canoe in the spectacular scenery of Kangaroo Valley; swim, walk, kayak, dive and more in Jervis Bay and Booderee National Park
